Achilles tendonitis refers to inflammation of your Achilles Tendon, which is a continuation of your calf muscle that then inserts on the back of your heel bone. Achilles tendonitis is usually either acute due to an increase in activity, or chronic, due to changes to your Achilles that have developed over time that result in chronic pain.
